Processor Boards

Processor boards are the essential foundation that powers all modern servers. They contain the central processing unit (CPU), which controls and coordinates all functions and operations of the computer system.

Processor boards come in a variety of types to support different CPU architectures, chipsets, memory capacities, and expansion capabilities tailored for different usage scenarios.

Type of Processor Boards

Client-grade processor boards use desktop CPUs like Intel Core i3/i5/i7 or AMD Ryzen 3/5/7 series for basic office and workstation tasks. These provide sufficient processing power for tasks like web browsing, document creation, and light video/photo editing.

For more demanding workloads, we have server-grade boards with Xeon or Epyc CPUs that have higher core counts and support for error-correcting ECC memory.

Gaming Processor Boards

Gaming and workstation-class machines need processor boards with powerful CPUs like Intel's HEDT Core i9 or AMD Ryzen Threadrippers. These feature 8 or more high-performance cores to run smoothly 3D modeling, video encoding, and intense games.

For heavy content creation tasks like 3D rendering and video editing, look for boards with Intel's Xeon Scalable or AMD Epyc processors with the highest core counts of up to 64 cores.

When selecting a processor board, consider the CPU socket type, such as LGA1151 for Intel or AM4 for AMD. Check supported memory slots and the maximum memory capacity required for your workload. Some boards support up to 256GB or higher ECC memory, which is ideal for virtualization and databases.
